## page was renamed from DVInfo/News #acl DvGroup:read, write, revert Known:read, write All:read ===== 2005-09-06: new version of Spam filtering software Spamassassin 3.0.4 active ===== The latest version of [[http://spamassassin.org/|Spamassassin]] has been installed and is active since today. Please check carefully whether our spam filtering is continuing to be as efficient as before. ## end of abstract The efficiency of the spam filter has been tested using about 60 000 mails. With that mail sample the Spamassassin developers obtained the following results: at a score threshold of 5: || Correctly non-spam: || 29443 || 99.97% || || Correctly spam: || 27220 || 97.53% || || False positives: || 9 || 0.03% || || False negatives: || 688 || 2.47% || To rephrase that: it means that if you receive 10 000 good mails then 3 will probably get tagged at SPAM. At the same time out of 1000 spam mails 23 will not be tagged as spam. Sitewide we do refuse to accept emails with a Spamassassin score above 10. Here the numbers obtained are as follows: || Correctly non-spam: || 29452 || 100.00% || || Correctly spam: || 24850 || 89.04% || || False positives: || 0 || 0.00% || || False negatives: || 3058 || 10.96% || In other words: we refuse to accept about 90 percent of incoming SPAM while the error rate is below the detection threshold. By extrapolating the results from lower spam scores we can however estimate that about 1 good mail per year is refused at the current volume of incoming mails.
