We need a second machine, e.g. tethys

  • burn image /project/dell_proje2850/Firmware_Updates/CD18FUP.iso on CD
    • further information in /project/dell_2850/Firmware_Updates/00README.sw
  • downtime tethys, shutdown tethys, take out both disks
  • put the disk with errors (select timeout) from machine with degraded raid into tethys slot 0
  • boot tethys from CD, this makes automatically the firmware upgrade
    • comment: machine stops in BIOS, multiple ENTERs necessary
  • put back the disk into the original machine again, the rebuild should start
    • check with /usr/sbin/dellmgr if the rebuild is running
